Identity Verification (IDV) is the process of confirming the identity of an individual by validating the personal information they provide against authoritative sources, such as government databases like Department of Home Affairs (DHA).
IDV typically involves cross-checking details like an individual’s ID Number, full name, date of birth, passport number, and other personal identifiers to ensure the information matches official records. This verification helps businesses confirm the legitimacy of the person they are dealing with, preventing fraud and ensuring secure transactions.
IDV is critical for businesses to reduce fraud, enhance security, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. By verifying the identity of customers, businesses can prevent identity theft, unauthorized transactions, and other forms of financial fraud.
IDV ensures that only legitimate customers are able to access services or make transactions, which safeguards both the business and the consumer.

To access the IDV Verification (Bureau) API, click the link below:
IDV (DHA): This service queries Department of Home Affairs (DHA) directly to access and return demographic and biometric information stored in their system.
Note: We query Department of Home Affairs (DHA) when performing biometric verification (OTV) so you would only use this call if you are not going to use biometrics verification (OTV) in a certain process flow.
IDV (Bureau): This service uses credit bureaus to retrieve demographic information, which may be outdated. For instance, the individual might have changed their surname (e.g., due to marriage) or may be deceased. As such, this call is not suitable for FICA/KYC compliance. Additionally, if your customer journey already includes the IDV (DHA) or OTV (Biometric Verification) calls, there is no added value in utilizing this API.
